Megan Goodwin is one of Marissa’s best friends, so for a change of pace she asked to write Megan’s blog:
Megan Goodwin went to mine and Davey’s Alma Mater, Erskine College. Megan was in the same grade as me and lived just a few rooms down in the dorm. We met Freshman year and have been great friends ever since.
Megan is a Special Education teacher at Belton Middle School, Anderson School District Two, where the kids absolutely adore her! Megan is a little over five feet tall, like me, so we always tease each other about life as a short person. I say she is so great with kids because she’s “down on their level,” of course she always has some great comeback like, “I’m so glad I have a friend I can see eye to eye with!”
This is the bench where Craig proposed! I always love the story of how her and Craig met. Freshman year, Megan’s computer was messing up so she called the IT department, but somehow got Craig’s dorm room instead. As it happens, Craig is very good with computers, so he offered to help her anyway! And the rest is history!
Megan is one of those people that is so beautiful on the inside and it just radiates on the outside! She has such a wonderful smile and laugh! No wonder Craig loves her!
Don’t be fooled by her sweet smiles, Megan has a sassy side! I love that this picture shows a little bit of it, but also is still so elegant!

We took Megan’s bridals up at Bonclarken, the ARP Conference Center, and Megan’s favorite place in the world! She calls it “the happiest place on Earth.” Every year she attends and works at many of the summer camps at Bonclarken, including her favorite, Camp Joy, a camp for mentally handicapped people.
We scheduled Megan’s bridals on the opening day of Synod, by coincidence, so everyone was at Bonclarken, and they all know Megan really well. Everyone kept coming up and they were so excited to see Megan getting her bridals done! We had to try and hide a little because there were so many people, many of whom would be at the wedding, and we didn’t want to spoil the surprise!
This weeping willow is down by a small lake at Bonclarken, where the campers go kayaking, swimming, and water biking! Craig almost proposed on one of the docks, but go too nervous, so he proposed a little later that evening on the bench!
One of the Canadian Geese wanted to be in the bridals too! Megan fed him some graham crackers, what a lucky goose.
I just love the way the sun shines through her veil! She looks so beautiful!
Craig is a big Microsoft fan, something Davey and I always tease him about, since we’re Mac people. We thought it might be fun to do a little Windows logo with some flowers, just for him.
These were taken at the Sky Top Apple Orchard, a very beautiful orchard just a few minutes away from Bonclarken. You should definitely go up there in the fall and pick some apples! They have tons of delicious apples, apple cider, apple doughnuts, apple butter, etc. It’s the perfect day trip for the fall!
And here is where we ruined Megan’s dress…not really. The swing chain had a green plastic cover on it, and the sticky cider hands from all the kids that play on it in the fall made the chain very sticky, and left a few little green chain marks on Megan’s dress. Luckily, the dry cleaners got it out! We always bring a sheet and place it under the bride’s gown to keep them from getting dirty, but it slid down some when she swung…we probably won’t be trying this again! It did make some fun pictures though!

We loved doing Megan’s bridals, and are so excited and happy for her and Craig! They’re such wonderful people, if you ever get the chance to know someone half as wonderful as them, then you’re a truly blessed person. Megan was always there for me in school when I would get stressed out, excited, sad, etc. I’m so glad to have been there for her bridals! She actually helped me with mine a year ago! Megan was always a star student, very diligent in her work, but she always made time for friends, family, and fun! You simply can’t help falling in love with her!
