Michelle and Chris are Married!

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

Chris and Michelle were married at Bonclarken. It’s a Christian camp located in Flat Rock, NC, near the Flat Rock Playhouse and the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church’s first choice for hosting many of their events and retreats. The Heidelberg Hotel, an iconic image of Bonclarken, seen in the photo below, was built in 1886! It features 19 rooms and 4 suites!

Chris and Michelle went to school at Erskine College, mine and Marissa’s Alma Mater. We knew them from Erskine and were so excited to hear of their engagement and honored when they asked us to photograph their wedding!

Chris gave his groomsmen traditionally crafted pocket watches with their names on them for the groomsmen’s gifts. The guys were full of laughs!

The flower girl was too cute! All of Michelle’s bridesmaids were so sweet! Many of them were friends from college, and had plenty of fun stories to tell about their time together at Erskine.

Too much cuteness for one picture!

Michelle and her father right before she walked down the isle. I always love these tender moments, they make for such emotional pictures! Chris and Michele were married outside, in the outdoor amphitheater at Bonclarken. It was a very hot day, but the wedding was beautiful and sunshiny with the ironic addition of thunder in the distance!

Michelle’s brother-in law Rhett, started the ceremony and her father officiated the rest. It’s always really special when the father of the bride is the pastor! I don’t know how they do it without crying!

Michelle and Chris are filled with so much joy and happiness! Just look at those smiles!

Michele is such a lovely lady, she has the most adorable smile! I love how she crinkles her nose when she laughs, it’s such an infectious happiness! You know that the guy who marries her has to be a super special guy to deserve her, and Chris really is great! He completely adores Michele, you can see in his eyes and the way he looks at her, that he’s totally head over heels for her, and she returns his affection with huge smiles and loving eyes!

There was dancing, a beautiful cake and a lot of wonderful friends and family at the reception! Everything was apple orchard themed because Chris proposed at the Sky Top Orchard just down the road from Bonclarken. There were baskets full of apples and surrounded by wreaths of apple blossoms decorating the entire reception!

I can’t help but laugh every time the bride and groom are about to depart, because you always see them look at each and say “are you ready” as they duck and prepare to be pummeled by bird seeds!

Seeds in the air, seeds in their hair, seeds everywhere!

Michelle and Chris still have some bird seeds in there hair after they got in the car, which they had to remove countless balloons and bouncy balls in order to do so! Michelle’s brother, John even attached a kite to the top of the Jeep and we saw it take flight as they drove off!

Michelle’s and Chris’ wedding was so sweet and special! They had amazing friends and family there that support them and wish the best for them! The day went perfect! It was thundering and cloudy some, however the rain held off right up until the moment they walked into the reception hall, and stopped just before their departure! How awesome is that! We hope you are enjoying your honeymoon in Jamaica!

Balancing act…

How romantic! I love the look of a lonely big tree! This one was over by Cleveland Park behind the Major Rudolf Anderson Jr. memorial.

We had a great time photographing David and Holly. Marissa is going to school to get her veterinary technician license also, so her and Holly had a lot to talk about. Holly loves cats and has two of her own. Her and Marissa traded silly cat stories while David and I talked “man stuff,” like hiking, technology, etc. 🙂

We wish you guys the best in your marriage and hope you’ll ask us to take pictures for you in the future! We really enjoyed getting to know you, David and Holly!

You can tell a little from all the layers they’re wearing it was a cold day, but you might be surprised how cold! It was 32°F! That’s freezing! Just before we met up I was thinking they’d probably want to reschedule for a warmer day, but they were all ready to take pictures then! They did an awesome job looking comfortable and not like little ice pops! Of course, Anna is used to cold weather, she said there were days when it was -30°C in Russia!! That’s cold!
