Cory Godbey’s Alice

Tuesday, October 12th, 2010

I love going to art shows, especially when you don’t have to travel too far! There are a bunch of talented artists in the South Carolina Upstate, however, this is one of my favorite artists! I recently went to a Cory Godbey‘s art exhibit at the Art and Light Gallery, called Alice! The lighting and coloring Cory uses in his artwork is spectacular! It’s really magical and fits the Alice theme perfectly!

The paintings, prints and drawings are all based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland!

My favorite piece is “The Glass Table,” behind Cory.

While I was there, I bought Cory’s Alice sketchbook and he signed it for me!

Be sure to check out Cory’s website and store if you wish to purchase any artwork!

Cory is also one of the amazing artists that works with Portland Studios. Be sure to look at the fun animations and illustration they create!

Pumpkintown Festival

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Marissa and I went up to Pumpkintown, SC, for the Pumpkintown Festival! On the way there I almost ran over a turtle! I quickly pulled to the side of the road and jumped out to see if it was alive. It was, so Marissa rescued the turtle and placed it on the side of the road. It was an Snapping Turtle. I think he is even smiling in the last shot for saving him!

We made it to the Pumpkintown Festival! It was packed out with mostly locals and some people that traveled like us.

There were bluegrass bands that performed live and the little kids danced along on the stage.

There were tents set up all over the place with neat arts and crafts! The metal workers, Kay’s Wrought Iron (706-376-9056), there, made some interesting stuff like Sponge Bob!

There was a fun competition where people would try and climb a pole to get a bag of cash at the top! There were several attempts, however this last one was a success.

There was a horse at the festival and this guy with a hat covered in buttons.

We got a funnel cake and I kid you not, fried Oreos! I thought they tasted awesome. It tasted like funnel cake with chocolate in the middle.
